We are so happy to have you here. Learn more about Trent Deckard, an award-winning educator at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, doctoral student, and now twice-elected member of the Monroe County Council. Trent, who was selected by his council colleagues to serve as president and president-pro tempore for three years in a row, came into the position as a former Democratic state agency head, district director for Congressman Baron Hill, and chief of staff for the Indiana House Democratic Caucus. During Trent’s service, the council finally made bold steps in improving Monroe County lives through investments in housing, hunger, and childcare with federal ARPA dollars granted by the Biden administration. The county also gained key steps in returning the community to a Constitutionally focused correctional center that was overdue and key agreement with the City of Bloomington towards completing the Convention Center. He’s also been a loud voice in calling out wrongs and injustices brought about by federal and state encroachments on Monroe County lives.
Now, in this crucial time, when experienced doers are needed now more than ever, Trent is exploring a run for Monroe County Commissioner in the 2026 Mid-Term Election. All Monroe County residents are eligible to vote in this election. To register to vote visit IndianaVoters.Com
